Fashion forward, and socially conscious: The 2012 Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney

26 Mar

I don’t want to appear as shallow, so I feel as if I need to give my insight on things other than fashion.
The 2012 GOP primaries have turned out to be a contest of male whores, that could care less about the lower class of America.

The leader of the pack Mitt Romney, is an elitist that has outright admitted that he doesn’t care about poor people because the government is already taking care of them. Um, hello, you are vying to be the leader of the government, so you should care about them. Although he is not as much as an extremist as the others but a threat to us nonetheless.

While perusing his website, I found these two statements and had to literally “laugh out loud”. Which stated:

First, as a successful businessman, Governor Romney has not only added value to our economy through his investment and business activity, but he has paid millions in taxes every year to the U.S. government.

Second, the Romneys take to heart “to whom much is given, of him shall much be required.” Accordingly, they have been extraordinarily generous in their charitable giving, donating over $7 million from 2010-2011, averaging over 16% of their income.”

First of all sir, you are required by law to pay your taxes, so it’s not doing us any favors. And as for the second part,  is that not a bit unnerving to see that over $7 million (probably $7,000,125) is over 16.% (probably 16.002%) their income? I’m not that good at math but that roughly equals $437.5million dollars. Dude, really? You can spare 7 million without a second thought, so this is nothing to really brag about.

In fear of losing jobs to cheaper overseas nations, he claims he’ll adopt what he calls the “No Regret Policy” and it’s exactly what it sounds like. This radical approach is eerily reminiscent of Malcolm X’s “By Any Means Necessary” method from the 60’s, except it won’t be used to gain equality but to disregard environmental laws in hopes of finding alternate sources of energy and anything else that can be homegrown instead of continuing to import.  This reminds me of a documentary I recently watched entitled “Gas Land”. It goes into detail of how former VP Cheney waived laws so that the company he was formerly CEO of, Halliburton, to go into parts of the US and set up oil rigs. While in search of this oil, they severely polluted the water to the point you could actually light it on fire, YES FIRE!  But, I digress from my initial point. Gov. Romney wants to allow more of these actions and have no regret about the potential harm it may cause to the citizens of our country, the same ones who he wants to vote for him. I just don’t understand it.

I’ve only touched on a few points about Gov. Romney because i didn’t want you to get bored reading and not come back. But, I’d love to know what your thoughts are on him. Thanks for reading!
