Fred’s Health Tip of the Day- From the Trainer B. Cox

26 Apr

As you all know, I’ve been working with a trainer to make this full healthier lifestyle change. Here’s another tip from him to keep us all motivated on this journey!

Sticking To It!

Last week we discussed Motivation which is a very important piece to starting a fitness program and healthy life style.  Taking that first step toward a healthier lifestyle is vital and finding your motivation is what is going to push you toward that first step. However, without consistency that first step will be in vain.  Living a healthy and fit life is like running a marathon! The first step must be followed by a series of consistent step after step after step if you want to reach your goal and reap any real benefits!

I always tell my clients is takes two-week to break a bad habit and 2 weeks to install a good one. I’ve seen time and time again where people start and stop weight loss programs; constantly losing and regaining the same 10 pounds over and over again.  As probably imaginable, as a trainer that poor behavioral fitness cycle drives me nuts! However, that same vicious cycle is what drives repeat clientele in the health and fitness industry.

If you happen to be overweight and out of shape I assure you that it did not happen overnight, so don’t expect to get fit over night! Let me tell you a little secret, people become morbidly obese over a span of years.  For example, take your high school prom queen at age 18 she 5’5, 135 pounds and looking good. Now let’s say this same prom queen gains 4 pounds a year which doesn’t seem like a lot, but by the time her ten-year high school reunion rolls around she’s 175 pounds! Advance another 10 years and now the high school prom queen who once weighed in at 135 pounds is now a whopping 215 pounds! Now that food for thought! Take your health goals and motivation serious and stay consistent, I guarantee exciting more confident results will await you!
